ITV Tonight: Is Britain Happy?

Teaching resilience is explored as part of the ITV Tonight programme that asks – Is Britain Happy?

Staff and students from St Clement Danes in Rickmansworth provided a short insight into the Penn Resilience Programme lessons. Students explained that they feel happier as a result of developing the skills to be able to deal with the challenges and setbacks they face.

The lesson featured in the programme covers the Putting it into Perspective skill. This skill helps students find balance when they are worrying about future events in a way that is unproductive. By applying the skill when they are catastrophising, they can create balance in their thinking to provide perspective that enables them to problem solve effectively.

Bounce Forward (formerly How to Thrive) has trained in excess of 1,100 teachers who have gone on to teach the 18 Penn Resilience Programme lessons to over 100,000 students. We are delighted to have had the opportunity to share this small insight as part of the popular Tonight programme.

You can watch the programme here. Our contribution is around the 17-minute mark.
