FAQs

General

  • Why are adults so vital in our resilience training?

All the evidence shows that using and modeling the skills of resilience ourselves is the most powerful way of passing them on. Parents, teachers and other significant adults have a huge influence on the resilience of children and young people simply through our own behavior. Our approach is based on this simple premise – if we want to pass on skills of resilience to others, we must apply them in our own lives first.

  • There are several Resilience Programmes out there, how do you know which to choose?

This depends on what really matters to you and what you want to achieve. We believe that evidence is an important place to start. The research tells us what works and we then apply that learning in a way that is applicable to a specific audience. Talk to us. We are open, honest and genuinely want to help you move forward in a way that is best for you.

  • How much time do I need to implement the lessons?

It will depend on which of our programmes you are implementing. We develop each lesson within our curricular to work to lesson time of between 50 and 90 minutes.

  • Is there the option of doing online courses?

We do not currently offer on-line courses.

  • Can I purchase the Bounce Forward lesson materials and curriculum without the training?

The training we provide is just as important as the teaching materials, so we do not sell materials on their own.

  • What training resources would you advise for teachers to use for primary school children in Year 4 and below?

  • What are the prices?

Prices are listed on the individual training course sections. All development days include course materials, lunch and refreshments.

PRP

  • I’m interested in teaching PRP outside of the UK, is this possible?

Contact The Positive Psychology Centre at the University of Pennsylvania https://ppc.sas.upenn.edu/services/penn-resilience-training

  • Can you do the PRP course in less than 5 days?

No. The training structure is set out by the University of Pennsylvania and cannot currently be delivered in less than 5 days. There is flexibility for different delivery models of the 5 days.

  • Once certified can I train others to teach the PRP?

No. The certificate provides you with a lifetime license to teach the PRP to children and young people, but you are not able to train others or pass on the specific materials to anyone else. The intensive training will ensure you have a deep understanding of resilience skills and competencies and we encourage you to share this knowledge with others.
